A Letter from Jennifer McGlynn, Concession's Coordinator
Hello All,
Welcome to another great year of swim! Those of you who are returning members know the drill. Last year we were able to get many of the items we sell donated by community businesses. I am trying to do the same this year, but have not been successful. I have put together a donation letter explaining what we are about & the need for donations to our concession fundraiser. My hope is to petition as many businesses as we can for donation/commitment to sponsor us for 1 meet or all. They could donate a gift card to purchase items or an item (water, pizza, chili, paper goods, hamburger etc).
For new members, we have a concession stand at our home meets to raise money for the team. (NOW LOCATED AT THE BACK OF THE GYM). Hopefully you had a chance to taste some of our items at the mock meet. Some of the items we sell are pizza, chili, American chop suey, nachos, meatball subs, mac & cheese, chips, water, Gatorade, brownies, cookies, donuts, fruit snacks. With the new concession stand kitchen we are hoping to add a few new items to the list! These items are donated by businesses/families and then sold at the meet.
I am looking to see if anyone has a “connection” at any local businesses that we might be able to use (supermarket, bakery, restaurant, pizza shop, water vendor etc.). I would be happy to get you a copy of the fundraising letter or contact that person to request a donation. We have families from many cities and can hopefully tap resources in several communities. Also if you know a business that does donate to community programs let me know about them also. We will be having a sponsor board at the concession stand to thank and promote these businesses.
For the Raffle table again, we take donations from businesses (gift certificates or items) to be raffled off at each meet. One of the raffle items is a scratch ticket board. We ask each family to donate a scratch ticket for each home meet. You can bring it with you to the meet and drop it off at the concession stand. In addition to that we run a 50/50 raffle. If you have any new items that you could donate to the raffle (toys, gift cert, candles etc) you can bring it to the meet on Saturday.
Sign-up to volunteer your time or to donate food to the Killer Whales Concessions using Volunteer Spot (see link above.)
Thanks so much for you help!
Jennifer McGlynn
